It's the Annual Xmas UT2004 game! Every year, without fail, I play some Xmas maps and mods. Recent years have been a Bots & I affair, but I still manage some good old fashioned Unreal fun Link Gun

And it is old fashioned. UT2004 is as festive to me as reindeer and turkey. Earlier in the week I was browsing some old map and mod websites, and just looking at the screenshots of the game gives me butterflies in the tummy. It really gets to me. I'm a sentimental old git, that's for sure. The flat terrains, the basic (by modern standards) graphics, it all adds to my love of it. The control and handling is still superb, and puts more modernn games to shame. There's an immediacy in the control and a simplicity in the graphics that furthers the gameplay.

I managed a few games before Real Life got in the way, and recorded all but the first. My aim was off, I got lost on maps, and I really need to sort out binding for things like the Translocator. I'd really like to be able to play it for hours every night, but other games are piling up and I have a game or two I'm developing myself, so.....

Fuck it gets me every time I play it, every time I think about it, those GREAT online sessions some of us had a decade back.

Bet I'm still playing in another decade CTF Red
